Hi From Your Leaders

Sawubona! (that's hello in Zulu)

We're writing from Windsor Mountain in New Hampshire, where we're putting our final plans together for our amazing trip, which starts one week from today! Our itinerary looks wonderful, the whole group sounds fantastic, and we can't wait to meet everybody and get started.

A few things have come up in the past couple of days that we want to let everyone know about:

- Remember that it's winter in South Africa, and you should bring winter clothes! A jacket, hat and gloves will serve you well. We may even see some sub-freezing temperatures and snow in Lesotho and the Drakensberg Mountains.

- Remember to pack light! We need to be able to load all of our gear in the backs of two vans, and to be able to pack and unpack easily. A good rule of thumb is to set out everything you want to pack and then put half of it away.

- Our contact in Soweto asked us all to bring t-shirts for a screen printing project he's doing with us. As you're packing shirts, bring a blank one.

- Our contact in Klerksdorp tells us that many of the kids at the daycare we will be visiting don't have any winter clothes and are very cold this time of year. If your friends/family have any warm winter clothes for ages 0-3, bring them along! We'll be able to leave them in Klerksdorp on the 3rd day of our program, and they'll make a big difference to those kids.

- In case you didn't receive our mail stop information, here it is ... Folks can write to us at: Windsor Mountain Group, c/o Karma Backpackers Lodge, PO Box 354, Kestell 9860, South Africa. The last day we will be there is July 23rd. To be on the safe side, allow at least two weeks for the mail to get there. Put the person's name in the lower left corner.

Okay, that's about it for now! It's been great talking to a lot of you this week. If we haven't reached you yet by phone, expect a call from us soon. And see you next week!

Until then,
Sarah and Thatcher
